Sewing volunteers: We are organising a “Sew-cial”, a get-together for all sewing volunteers, to be held on Sunday 31 August from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm. This will take place at Alice Park’s beautiful Green Oak Barn next to Alice Park Community Garden. The idea is to make bunting to go outside the Open Homes as well as sashes in Bath Green Homes colours for all the volunteer stewards. The event is kindly being facilitated by Eirlys Penn, founder of The Big Mend (you can also find her onwww.facebook.com/thebigmend). We have fabric for the sashes but if you have any bits of old fabric in any shade of green, please bring them along. Tools and hand-powered sewing machines will be provided but bring your own if you wish. Fun event – all welcome. Tea, coffee and cake provided.
Volunteer stewards: Due to high numbers of stewards needed at some of this year’s homes, we are still looking for more people to help out over the Open Homes Weekend (27th and 28th September). Volunteers can do either the Saturday or Sunday. The event starts at 12 noon, with stewards arriving no later than 11.30, and ends at 5 pm. If you can only spare a few hours, we have some half-shifts available.
Stewarding is a fun way to learn more about sustainable design, gain experience, or get ideas first-hand for how to green up your own home. You also get to meet interesting and like-minded people while being part of an exciting community event.
Please contact Fiona Williams at email@example.com or 07875 986399, or visit our website www.bathgreenhomes.co.uk/volunteer for more information or to register interest.
Briefing event for all volunteer stewards: Wednesday 3rd September, 6 for 6.30 to 8 pm at the Brunswick Room, the Guildhall – light refreshments will be served. NB: we strongly encourage all volunteer stewards to attend this event as limited time and resources mean we are unable to respond to many individual queries over the phone. The briefing will provide you with all the information you need about the Open Homes Weekend, and you will get the chance to meet other volunteers as well as the Home Openers.
After-event party: Thursday 2nd October, 6 for 6.30 pm to 8 pm. We are pleased to confirm that our after-event party to thank everyone involved with the project will be held at No 1 Royal Crescent this year, courtesy of our project partners Bath Preservation Trust. Drinks and refreshments will be served.
We are also looking for help with the Bath Home Improvement Fair on Sunday 14th September to help with the smooth running of the event and to help out on the Bath Green Homes stall. Contact Kathy Tate for more details 01224 477528 / firstname.lastname@example.org
